Ex-husband #1 saga continues

Ex husband #1 continued…

So, he went to Korea for the first time in Nov. of 1993. The kids and I moved in with his parents for the next year. It was a very long year. His mom and I spent a lot of time working things out and actually almost became friends. We played cards almost every night. I made dinner most of the time and did the cleaning. And we paid rent.

When Steve came back from Korea, we went to Ft. Huachuca in AZ. It was a desolate place in the middle of nowhere. I hated it so much to begin with! The first 7 months we were there were awful. We had no friends and nothing much to do. Steve seemed to actually be honoring his promise and our marriage was better. Then the daughter got involved in the Girl Scouts and I became a troop leader and made friends! Soon our closest friends were my co-leaders and their husbands. We were there for three years.

We got orders for Germany and were so excited! Started packing, got our passports, bought a car that would cost us less in Europe… Then those orders fell through and were replaced with orders to exotic Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.

The orders fell through when it was discovered that our son would have to travel to see a Pediatric Neurologist at another base than the one we would have been stationed on in Germany. A 1-2 hour trip one way. What made better sense to the military was for us to drive 6 hours one way in OK-Texas. Yeah. Military math.

Then our closest friends got orders for Belgium.

And that was the middle of the beginning of the end.
