Number 12. Now he was special!
12.) Lee J. We met one night when I was out with a couple of my friends. One was meeting her boyfriend. The other and I, well we were yelling at cars as they went by on ‘the strip’. A truck full of really cute guys pulled over and talked to us. After a few minutes a couple of the guys asked us out and jumped out of the back of the truck. We stayed in the parking lot talking until after the third friend’s boyfriend arrived and she left.
(Now remember that this was, ahem, several years ago – ok about 25ish- and we lived in a rural area that was relatively safe.)
My girlfriend and I left with the boys to go to an out-of-the-way park to take a walk. And we did. We walked and talked and had a good time. The boys asked us both out again and we went. We double dated for a couple of weeks and my friend lost interest int Charles, and dumped him. I guess he was a little to tame for her.
Lee and I dated for almost a month before he even kissed me. But the night that we started… Woo baby!
We were out again at ‘our’ park, in the parking lot. The only car in the parking lot. Sitting in the back seat…
I remember it just like it was yesterday.
I was wearing grey shorts and a white button up blouse. Stupid shirt had buttons closely placed in threes… Took for ever to unbutton! I think that is probably the only reason why that policeman that knocked on the window didn’t find us… More involved. But thanks to Mr. Nosy Pants Policeman, we pretty much high tailed it out of there. I had a notion though…
Lee’s birthday was two days later. His family didn’t really celebrate birthdays, and there was a pool party for the football team and their guests that we were planning on attending, so his parents and brother took off to go do something that would have them gone until late. Absolutely no idea where they went now.
Anyway, I had this pretty much planned. I figured alone in the house, with no interruptions or Mr. Nosy Pants Policeman that we might be able to continue where we left off. Of course I let him think it was his idea. (As if! I planned it well.)
Kissing on the couch grew more heated until he suggested we go to his room. A lot more kissing later and neither of us were virgins anymore. Of course another time to make sure, didn’t hurt. We decided quite a while later that we should probably get going if were going to make it to the party.
We took a shower together and almost didn’t make it out of the house. We never did make it to the party. Not that either of us cared!
We dated for another month, until one day I went to meet him and his brother told me he was gone. Not just, gone to the store be back in a bit gone, but, yep, you guessed it, moved to another town gone. Seems his mother made a surprise visit into town and discovered that Lee was dating someone out of his religion. She was aghast. I guess that she actually had custody of Lee (for another year damn it all!) and made him pack his stuff and leave with her. I was devastated. She didn’t even allow him to call me to tell me he was going. His dad and step mom were upset as well, they liked me and loved having Lee live with them.
That was the very first time a parent didn’t like ME. And she didn’t even meet me! I was the wrong religion, which I guess was equal to being a different lower level species. That stung, a lot. I was a good person! Straight A student, I had ambition and I had goals! Parents loved me! I mean, really, I had a good relationship with the parents of any boy that I ever dated. Even Lee’s dad and step mom like me. Everyone, but this woman. The woman with the power to take him away. Bitch!
It was really difficult to get over him. Actually, I don’t think that I really did for a long time. I obviously never really resolved my feelings for his mother and her obvious distaste for me, a person she had never met. I decided then and there, I would never do that to my kids! A religion that ok’s hurting people like that is not one I want to be involved in.
But that too is a discussion for another day.
