  • Still Slogging Along

It is almost the end of October already. I can’t say that I will be sorry to leave this year behind us soon, but I can’t say that just changing the year on the calendar will make a difference. What a year it has been! Cancer diagnosis. Cruise! Cancer surgery. Car accident. Daughter and co.

  • Is still a long fucking paper. There are five chapters in a standard dissertation. One: The introduction. Easy peasy. Finished it in less than 8 weeks. Two: The literature review- 30-60 pages, including at least 50 references. Not easy. I try to be very concise with my word choice. You know, not using several words

  • JAWS has returned to the theaters for its 50th anniversary. I still remember when it first came out. I, however, have never seen it. I was too young to see it when it originally came out, and I love the water too much to have seen it since. It’s at our local theater, which is

  • Trauma Response

It’s been four months since the accident. Some things are better, some are the same, and time still marches on. The truck was totaled. Well, there was $18,000 worth of damage done to it, enough that the insurance said she was toast. Bye, Denver. You were an excellent truck, and my husband loved you dearly.

  • Once Again….

So, Friday the 16th of May, I had finally found the sideboard/buffet I wanted to replace the island in my kitchen that I frankly HATE. I had found one at our local Restore store. My elder son and I had found it a few days before, did the measuring thing, and then I had to

For those that haven’t been paying attention, it was a Radical Hysterectomy, including all the bits that make up a woman. Why? Endometrial Cancer.

  • Day Two

So second day on the big ass ship. Still seasick, just not as bad. Let me tell you that considering how much we paid for this trip, it absolutely suck to spend it trying not to throw up. Well, usually not quite that bad. Unless the swells are like 10+ feet tall. And they have

  • Religion, Politics and Sex

Let’s start with sex, which, of course, is related to the other two, especially in today’s political climate. Growing up in the 1980s, I was taught that certain things were never discussed with people we didn’t know well and never at the dinner table, even if it was just family in attendance. These, of course,

  • Silly Things Continued…

Back to the deep dark plum hair issue. Hydrogen peroxide and water. An equal mix, left on hair for 15 minutes. Guaranteed to lighten your hair. Left it in for half an hour, and…. Nothing. Didn’t do a damn thing. Deep conditioned afterward anyway. So, I have given up. I still wash my hair with

  • Random Thoughts

‘Officially ‘ started my dissertation- hello to no real life for at least a year. Mom’s birthday was yesterday. She would have been 91. She’s been gone since Thanksgiving 2020, and it has been 6+ years since I last saw her. Not my choice, my rotten siblings. Another story for another day. Yesterday was hard,
